NCA to provide training to club cricketers

LAHIORE – The PCB National Cricket Academy has taken another initiative to streamline the sport at the grass root level and for the purpose the NCA will give training to club cricketers of all the 11 regions in line with the training programme provided to the national team members.
Addressing a press conference here, NCA director Intikhab Alam said that NCA trainers, coaches and physio will visit the clubs and give them training the way the national team gets during practice sessions at camps.
Aaqib Javed, Ali Zia, Shahid Aslam, Dr Sohail Saleem and Haroon Rashid were also present on the occasion and gave their view on the launch of the programme.
The programme will start from April 12 to June 4 at different venues of the country.
They informed that the players will be given training at the clubs practice area and regional designated grounds.
“We would focus on all the departments of the game - batting, bowling, fielding and wicket-keeping - with emphasis on balance and stability, weight transfer, shot selection and variations, practice routines, weight of the bat, illegal and suspect actions, run-up markings, target bowling, developing variations, throwing power and accuracy, throwing variations, advanced catching techniques, reflex actions for batting bowling and fielding while in wicket-keeping, circuit training, advanced techniques, catching and diving techniques will be focused.
That would follow physical training through cardio-vascular fitness, flexibility, core stability, plyometrics, muscles strength and endurance and speed and agility.
The players will be briefed about the rehabilitation methods, injury prevention, icing methods, isolation and mobilization of injured area, strength regaining methods, aqua therapy and hazards of de-hydration, said Intikhab.
Aaqib said that like this the cricket would learn the basic of the game at the club level and when they would reach the national circuit there would be little to teach those cricketers. Key Motto “Enhanced Fitness and Fielding”
