LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday adjourned Interior Minister Rehman Malik's corruption cases until March 25.
Chief Justice Lahore High Court Khawaja Sharif exempted Rehman Malik from not appearing in court on Wednesday as the minister had filed an application stating that he had to attend a meeting in Islamabad being chaired by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.
One of the two petitioners, Hashim Raza's council said that it had been 16 years since the case was filed against Malik for raiding his house and keeping gold jewellery weighing 20 tolas and Rs700,000 yet no verdict had been given in this regard though they had enough evidence.
Khawaja Sharif called for the appearance of Malik in the next hearing and adjourned the case until March 25.
Two corruption cases were registered by the Federal Investigation Agency against Rehman Malik in 1997 and 1998 during his tenure as the additional director general. One was for receiving two cars as illegal gratification and another for raiding a house and keeping the loot.
