Pak scholar highlights expats identity issues

LONDON: A Pakistani PhD research scholar was applauded for his research ideas when he presented them in a seminar at the School of Language, Linguistics and Film, Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) to a British audience that included renowned researchers and academicians, says a press release on Friday.

Speaking to the farewell seminar organised by the QMUL, Muhammad Usman Ghani, a PhD scholar in English Studies from National University of Modern Languages, highlighted various aspects of his Sociolinguistic research on Pakistani Immigrant fiction. He enlightened the English audience about the identity issues that Pakistani immigrants living in Britain face through his scientific research on the text of an English novel Emigre Journeys written by a renowned Pakistani author Abdullah Hussein.

The academicians of the university, Dr Paul Elbourn, Dr Devyani Sharma and Dr Erez Levon, in their separate remarks appreciated Ghani's research and the Pakistani government for bringing about research culture in Pakistani universities. This is pertinent to mention here that the Queen Mary University is one of the top institutions of higher education and research in the UK.
