
LALAMUSA/LAHORE: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said there will be no deadlock in the constitutional committee and all the matters will be resolved peacefully according to the Charter of Democracy.
He was talking to media persons during the Valima ceremony of the brother and two nephews of Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira on Saturday. He said there is a difference of opinion between the two parties over the change of name of the NWFP and there is no interference from the government. He said PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif is his sincere friend and the meeting with him was a routine matter which will continue in future also.
Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer, Interior Minister Rehman Malik and other federal cabinet members were also present on the occasion. Earlier, addressing a public meeting at Ladhay Wala Warraich, Prime Minister Gilani promised to work for the prosperity of the masses. He asked the people to stand by the MPs and strengthen the hands of the government in its struggle to achieve high ideals of progress. He promised to restore the 1973 Constitution in its original form. He said the government is moving ahead in close association with the US and other countries. He assured the people his government would overcome the present issues of water, energy and gas etc.
He was confident that his government would complete its five-year term. He said the end of unemployment and regularisation of ad hoc employees are the priorities of his government. He assured to increase the minimum slab of unskilled labour salary to Rs 6,000 a month.
Agencies add: Constitutional Reforms Committee member Naveed Qamar said deadlock on the constitutional package would end soon. Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervez Ashraf said loadshedding would decrease next month as 1,200 megawatts would be added to the system.
He said the loadshedding problem had aggravated due to a decrease in the water level in Mangla and Tarbela dams. Had the rental power projects been installed, the power crisis would have been overcome, he added. Aitzaz Ahsan said all institutions are working within their ambit.
