Development of Sino-Pak relationship is in interest of both countries, regional pace & security

The development of the friendship between Pakistan and China was in the principle interest of both countries as well as in the interest of regional peace and security.This was stated by Minister of Asia Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hu Zhengyue while inaugurating a day-long seminar on “Pakistan-China Relations in the 21st Century” organized by Pakistan Embassy here on Thursday.Prominent scholars and intellectuals from leading think-tanks and research institutes from Pakistan and China participated in the seminar.
The seminar was attended by over 165 participants, which included students from the China Foreign Affairs University, Tsinghua and Peking Universities; faculty and trainees of the Natonal Defence University; corporate executives and Chinese officials and diplomats.
Hu described “Pakistan and China as good friends, good brothers, good partners and good neighbours”.
He said that at a time when the world was undergoing major transformation and new found security threats there was a need for Pakistan and China to work together to jointly face these challenges.
The Chief Guest from Pakistan, Inamul-Haque, former Foreign Minister, said that Pakistan-China bilateral relations were an example for the world. They were based on mutual trust and mutual interest. China had always stood by Pakistan in difficult times and China’s presence was a stabilizing influence in the region.
Dr. Ishrat Hussain, former Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan and Dean of IBA, said that Pakistan- China economic relations had immense potential that must be realized through enhancement in investment flows and increased trade.
